Project Description

We were thrilled to gain access to our latest Ballarat project café; DRIVE. This design is located in a popular Golden Point. Some of the challenges on this project were navigating a large amount of complex planning controls, overlays, parking issues and numerous council mediation meetings, but the end result has seen a great outcome for our clients.

The design brief was to open up a space that would connect people and act as a social hub within the neighbourhood. Material selections on the exterior were limited to maintaining the identity of the original building, the original rotunda was stripped back with repainted cladded linings added. The original floors being ground back to give a new industrial feel to the main building whilst retaining the original garage windows. New custom door and windows were inserted into one of the existing roller door openings, with a full commercial kitchen added and an AS1428.1 compliant toilet washroom to carter for all mobility and access requirements.

The building has a beautiful timber bar that connects the dining and meals areas that allows patrons to experience stunning sunset views over Peel Street. The atmosphere in the café is industrial with steel and timber chairs, white washed walls and leather couches to add to the relaxed and very chic’ feeling created.

We would like to thank our clients for selecting to partner with us to produce this amazing space in Golden Point and wish them and their business every success in the future.
